Traumatic Brain Injury
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is often referred to as an acquired brain injury or head injury. TBI occurs when there has been damage to the brain caused by some form of sudden trauma to the head. In traumatic situations, the head may suddenly or violently hit an object causing TBI. In other cases, theskull is pierced by an object that enters into the tissue of the brain itself.
A TBI can be a very devastating event to a victim and their families. In most cases, the victim may experience a complete recovery, however, there are instances where the victim may not be able to return back to work and may require lifelong assistance or skilled nursing care.
